Conscientes du rôle important qu’elles jouent au sein de leurs collectivités, les institutions de santé peuvent agir à titre d’« institutions phares » – de grandes organisations qui améliorent la santé et le bien-être de leurs collectivités par le biais de l’emploi, de l’approvisionnement et de l’entretien des terrains et des bâtiments. Les réseaux d’institutions phares permettent à ces dernières de collaborer pour soutenir leurs objectifs.
En plus de s’attaquer aux déterminants sociaux de la santé, bon nombre des mesures prises par les institutions phares peuvent réduire leur impact environnemental et favoriser la transition vers des systèmes de santé durables et de haute qualité.
